THE PREDICTION
A person that believes in the ‘narrative’ and that life, and the Premier League by consequence, is somehow scripted, might think the home team could nick this one. A raucous atmosphere getting behind a new man in charge with off-field protests distracting the side as they fight for their Premier League status: it might just be set up for a dramatic Dyche win in his opening match. However, this would seem scripted for a reason and that reason is its detachment from reality. Everton are a bad side that play incompetent football and are run in an incompetent manner. Dyche will improve that aspect on the pitch and they will be a lot more difficult to beat but it is likely to take longer than four full days as boss. Arsenal are a very good side that play controlling, almost suffocating football in a sophisticated and complex but cohesive manner. The Gunners will be cool and confident of victory and they will be confident of snuffing out any of the early Goodison roar.
