THE TEAM NEWS

YORKSHIRE VIKINGS

Coach: Andrew Gale

Captain: Steven Patterson

  • The Vikings have put in a couple of real Jekyll and Hyde performances in the last week as they lost by 77 runs to Derbyshire Falcons and then beat Leicestershire Foxes by 60 runs themselves as they sit in fourth.

  • Matthew Fisher is back after a toe problem to boost the squad so that gives them another option to select from in terms of their bowling attack and they may decide to vary it up after a busy schedule lately.

  • Kane Williamson enjoyed his best innings as a Vikings player last time out with an excellent 77 from 41 balls, while Kohler-Cadmore continues his top form opening the innings, and they will look to continue this strong form against a poor Steelbacks bowling attack.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE STEELBACKS

Coach: David Ripley

Captain: Alex Wakely

  • The Steelbacks are firmly rooted to the bottom of the North Group with just one point from an abandoned match which is their sole point from eight matches so far as they are just playing for pride now.

  • The loss to Durham on Thursday night was another low point for them as they were hammered by 75 runs and could only manage 95 runs before being bowled out which was a dismal effort.

  • Mood and morale is incredibly low with skipper Alex Wakely admitting it was as difficult a situation as he had known at the club, but they may consider one or two changes to try and freshen things up.

THE PREDICTION

The Steelbacks are comfortably the worst team in the competition and it is difficult to see them getting a win against any team in the tournament right now. The Vikings have been hit and miss of late but they are motivated to get the win to stay in the top four in a competitive North Group. At home, they should fancy their chances here of batting first and hitting a big total against the worst bowling attack in the tournament. Everything points towards a home win here.
