THE TEAM NEWS

SUSSEX SHARKS

Coach: Jason Gillespie

Captain: Luke Wright

  • Sussex have seen their last two matches abandoned due to bad weather but they remain just a point behind the leaders and they will be itching to get out in the middle and play some cricket.

  • They have named the same 14 players that formed the squad for the postponement with Hampshire on Sunday which means fast bowler Tymal Mills is set to make his first appearance of the season.

  • Danny Briggs provided the club with a big boost by signing a new contract on Monday and the general mood around the camp is positive coming in to this match to face the South Group leaders.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Coach: Richard Dawson

Captain: Michael Klinger

  • Gloucestershire continue to sit atop the South Group with nine points from their six matches played so far and their confidence is flying as they are buoyed by their underdog status against some big spending teams and big name players.

  • Graeme van Buuren, Craig Miles and Matt Taylor come into a 15-man squad but it seems unlikely they will make too many changes from the team that beat Glamorgan at Cheltenham last time out.

  • Aussie paceman Andrew Tye has settled in nicely into the t20 Blast producing a level of performance worthy of his status as arguably the best T20 pace bowling in the world, and he continues to be key for them.

THE PREDICTION

A fascinating match in store at Hove where the big names of Sussex square off against an unfancied and underestimated Gloucestershire side. The visitors have been in superb form so far and they are strong in every department. Sussex have been thwarted by two recent abandonments which may affect their rhythm but they will be hungry to put in a good showing here and move ahead of their opponents. Sussex have the edge in quality but hard to discount the visitors.
