THE TEAM NEWS

GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Coach: Richard Dawson

Captain: Michael Klinger

  • Gloucestershire have already qualified for the quarter-finals after their win over Surrey on Sunday but they have a chance of clinching a home tie if they win and results go their way this evening.

  • They have named the same squad that was selected for the match against Surrey on Sunday which is logical given they have won their last three t20 Blast matches, and left arm wrist spinner Jacob Linnott has been called up once again.

  • While there may be a temptation to rest one or two key players like Andrew Tye, they will be keen to keep this form and momentum going with the knockout stage around the corner, so they will name a strong side once again.

SUSSEX SHARKS

Coach: Jason Gillespie

Captain: Danny Briggs

  • Sussex’s win over Glamorgan on Tuesday night was vital in their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals as they now sit one point behind the Welsh team with one game in hand which makes winning this match vital.

  • Luke Wright remains unavailable with a back injury and so head coach Jason Gillespie has named an unchanged 14-man squad with Danny Briggs deputising as skipper once again in his absence.

  • Their bowlers really stepped up against Glamorgan as they skittled them out for just 88 as Tymal Mills took a hat-trick and all bowlers produced the goods, while the batting display was also promising especially in the absence of Wright, so they will look to maintain these performance levels here.

THE PREDICTION

Gloucestershire may ease off the gas a little after already qualifying for the knockout stage, but they will struggle against Sussex if they are not fully on their game. The visitors are highly motivated right now and know they have to win their last two matches to qualify for the quarter-finals. They were superb in the win over Glamorgan and if Gloucestershire drop off at all in terms of focus or motivation, they could suffer a similar fate. With motivation on their side, Sussex have to be preferred in this one.
