THE TEAM NEWS

GLAMORGAN

Coach: Robert Croft

Captain: Colin Ingram

  • Glamorgan need to win their final match here against Surrey and hope that Sussex lose as they rue the fact they have lost their last two matches including their last game against Sussex as they dropped out of the top four.

  • They will take heart from the fact that they beat Surrey at the Oval earlier in the tournament and the key to that particular victory was some excellent middle order hitting by Meschede, Carlson and Wagg, even though they were missing skipper Colin Ingram in that game.

  • Ingram is of course available for this match and has been in superb form since returning to the starting line-up, and they will need all their key men to produce against a strong Surrey side.

SURREY

Coach: Michael Di Venuto

Captain: Jade Dernbach

  • Surrey have a similar chance of reaching the quarter-finals as their opponents here as they are relying on Sussex slipping up against Middlesex which seems unlikely, and winning this match of course.

  • Scott Borthwick has broken his wrist so he is unavailable for this match but Mark Stoneman returns to the squad although they will likely name the same starting 11 that beat Hampshire last time out with the only change being Tom Curran missing out and Pillans likely to come in.

  • They will once again be hoping that Aaron Finch can lead them to victory and continue his unbelievable form as he is averaging 136 having scored 545 runs in just eight innings in the t20 Blast this season.

THE PREDICTION

While both teams will play for the win, they are both relying on Sussex losing to qualify for the quarter-finals. Surrey have the edge in form and with Finch in the side, they are difficult to beat in his current form. He offers unparalleled firepower in the tournament and along with Roy, they have the ability to take the game away from any team. Fresh off being bowled out for 88 and suffering a demoralising loss, it is tough to see Glamorgan bouncing back from that psychological blow against a direct rival, and they may just slip away once again here.
