This is the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
Each of Tottenham’s three goals that were scored against Borussia Dortmund came via efforts with the left foot (Harry Kane x2, Heung min-Son x1).
Tottenham are usually well known for controlling possession in matches but in their victory over Dortmund they themselves only had 36% of it.
In comparison. APOEL had 37% possession of the ball during their loss to defending champions Real Madrid.
Tottenham are unbeaten in their last six matches across all competitions. Harry Kane is the club's top scorer with six goals and he currently finds the net once every 104 minutes.
The last two European fixtures that Tottenham have played in have resulted in a sending off for the North London club. Dele Alli vs Gent in last season’s Europa League and Jan Vertonghen’s sending off against Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago.
APOEL have had a very sluggish start to their domestic campaign as they currently find themselves 11th out of 14 teams in the Cypriot First Division.
APOEL needed to play in three qualifying rounds just to get to the group stages and they had an unbeaten record en route, with wins over TNS and Rosenborg while drawing with Kobenhavn in successive rounds.
APOEL's last win in European competition (non-qualifying stage fixtures) was back in February of this year when they beat Spain’s Athletic Bilbao 2-0 at home in the Europa League round of 32.
