Travel Distances 2019-20 – Championship

Email

Here at TSZ we have put together a list of all the travel distances for the top six tiers of English football. The distances have been determined by using the shortest route by road on Google Maps (stadium to stadium).

This article focuses on the 2019-20 Championship season.

TOTAL DISTANCES

  • Swansea fans will have the furthest to travel in the 2019-20 Championship season. Their average away day commute will be 193.7 miles, meaning if any fan decides to attend all away matches they'll clock up 4456 miles of total travel distance - and that doesn't even include the trip home!
  • Birmingham fans are rewarded for being positioned in the middle of the country, as they have the least distance to travel for their 2019-20 Championship away days. An average drive of just 102.2 miles per away day - or 2351 miles in total - awaits their fans.

WHAT IS THE LONGEST AWAY TRIP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The match-up between Swansea and Middlesbrough represents the longest single away trip for all clubs in the 2019-20 Championship season (311 miles).
  • In fact, a visit to either the Liberty or Riverside Stadium is the longest away day for 19 of the 24 Championship teams for the 2019-20 season.

WHAT IS THE SHORTEST AWAY TRIP IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The closest match-up in the Championship this season will be the West London derby between Fulham and QPR, with just the three miles separating the two stadiums.
  • Both Hull and Middlesbrough will have to travel at least 50 miles per away match as even their closest opponents (Leeds) surpass that mark.
