THE PREDICTION

World number 11 Carlos Alcaraz can break the top 10 this week if he betters Cam Norrie by a few rounds or indeed goes on to win a second-successive Masters title after his stunning run at the Miami Open last time out. The 18-year-old turns 19 next month at the Madrid Open where last season he faced his idol Rafael Nadal in a straight sets defeat that seemed only to fast-track his already rising star. World number 42 Sebastian Korda will likely join him inside the top 10 on tour some time sooner than later but right now the Spaniard is second only to the likes of Novak Djokovic, Nadal and perhaps Daniil Medvedev on tour.

Korda was assured in a straight-sets victory over Botic van de Zandschulp on Monday but he lost to Alcaraz in the final of the Next Gen ATP Final just last November and he will face a supercharged version of that prodigy here. Back Alcaraz to win outright here, with only a potential post-title slump keeping this pick from straight sets.
