THE PREDICTION
Former world number 30 Aliaksandra Sasnovich has enjoyed some strong form over the last few months, with a memorable run to the round of 16 at Indian Wells via victories over recent US Open champion Emma Raducanu and two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep the best of them. The 27-year-old reached the final of the Gippsland Trophy last week before a three-set defeat to a resurgent Amanda Anisimova but she will be up against it here in promising youngster Qinwen Zheng, who needed Simona Halep to oust her in the semi-finals of Melbourne 1. The 19-year-old Chinese prospect qualified well this week and that momentum should see her force a decider here. Sasnovich remains the slight favourite but taking her to win at least a set as the likelier of two capable winners is the sensible move.
