THE PREDICTION

World number 40 Sorana Cirstea is still enjoying possibly her second-best year on tour at 31 years old after winning the second WTA title of her career at the Istanbul Open and performing well at Grand Slams this summer. The Romanian is yet to drop a set this campaign after two convincing wins over Heather Watson and Tereza Martincova and she looks likely to come through this first meeting with Jasmine Paolini in much the same fashion. World number 87 Paolini is up to her career-high WTA ranking right now after reaching two 125 event finals, and winning one, earlier this season. The Italian is also yet to drop a set and she was in control on merit against Dayana Yastremska in the first round before the sixth seed pulled out. Still, Cirstea is enjoying her tennis right now and the fourth seed should be the one playing in the semi-finals on Saturday.
