THE PREDICTION

Albert Ramos-Vinolas shot up the ATP world rankings to 37th after a successful bid for the Estoril Open title, beating Cameron Norrie in a topsy-turvy final via a deciding tiebreak. The 33-year-old will be dangerous first opponent for world number 30 Taylor Fritz as a result but the American has beaten Ramos-Vinolas in both previous meetings, including in four sets at this year’s Australian Open. Fritz has been in middling form in recent months but should be considered the favourite here still despite of, but also because of, Ramos-Vinolas’ title win on Sunday as the Spaniard will have to avoid the first round curse following a title win. This match could go any way at all, so take it to see three sets on a surface that favours Ramos-Vinolas but a match-up that has favoured Fritz so far.
