THE PREDICTION

This should be an entertaining clash between two players at home on clay but neither brings much form with them to this fifth career meeting. World number 31 Nikoloz Basliashvili has lost three-straight matches since winning his second ATP title of the season at the Munich Open to display perfectly how hot and cold the Georgian can blow. However, he has enjoyed a much better season than world number 39 Dusan Lajovic, who has an 8-14 record for the season so far despite reaching the quarter-finals of the Belgrade Open 2 last week. 30-year-old Lajovic has struggled for confidence for the best part of a year now but he is an excellent clay-court specialist on his day and should not be underestimated. This match has the potential for four or five sets and if over three sets is available take that option. Otherwise, Basilashvili leads their head-to-head record 3-1 and looks the likelier to come out of this clash the winner so take the 29-year-old as outright winner here.
