THE TEAM NEWS

GLOUCESTER

  • Gloucester suffered their second consecutive loss in the Premiership as they were beaten on home soil by the scandal-hit Saracens last week and they were well behind by half-time.
  • Danny Cipriani managed to play against Saracens despite struggling with a calf injury but Gloucester will be monitoring his fitness closely while hoping he can feature against French champions Toulouse.
  • Gloucester have won two and lost two of their first four games in the Gallagher Premiership, which is a win percentage they could have used last year in Pool 2 of the Champions Cup with none of Exeter, Castres or themselves managing to qualify as a second-place team.

TOULOUSE

  • Toulouse will hope for more consistency in the Champions Cup after a poor start to their Top 14 campaign with just four wins from nine which are worrying signs from the French champions.
  • The French side showed how much they had missed their international stars as five returned to give them a convincing 34-8 win over fellow Champions Cup team Clermont Auvergne.
  • Newly crowned World Rugby Young Player of the Year Romain Ntamack returned to star alongside Sofiane Guitoune and Maxime Medard for Toulouse but World Cup winner Cheslin Kolbe is yet to join up.

THE PREDICTION

Gloucester face a tough task here as they host Toulouse in their opening Champions Cup contest. The visitors have not had the best of starts to the season but with most of their internationals now available, they were in superb form at the weekend and should be able to back that up here with another convincing victory.
