THE TEAM NEWS
SALFORD RED DEVILS
- Salford Red Devils were able to overcome a disappointing showing in the first half of their clash with Leigh Centurions last week as they fought back from a half-time deficit to earn their first Super League win of the season.
- Richard Marshall will have been hugely relieved with his side’s response in the final 40 minutes of last week’s game but they are still amongst the lowest scorers in the league despite scoring 34 points in that clash.
20-man squad: Ackers, Addy, Atkin, Brown, Burke, Escare, Greenwood, Ikahihifo, Inu, Johnson, Kear, Livett, Lolohea, Lussick, Mossop, Ormondroyd, Roberts, Sio, Watkins, Williams
Unavailable: Joe Burgess, Dan Sarginson, Ryan Lannon, Elijah Taylor, Matty Costello, Jack Wells, Pauli Pauli, Declan Patton
- Castleford Tigers suffered their first loss of the season as they were beaten by Wigan Warriors last week but Daryl Powell will have been content with how his side fared in that game and he will believe that they can be contenders this year.
- The Tigers have shown their quality on both sides of the ball in the early stages of this campaign but it has been their attacking play that has caught the eye the most and they are the second-highest scorers in the league with 103 points scored so far.
21-man squad: Bienek, Blair, Eden, Evalds, Griffin, Hall, Holmes, Martin, Massey, Mata’utia, McShane, Millington, Milner, O’Brien, Olpherts, Peachey, Richardson, Sene-Lefao, Shenton, Trueman, Watts
Unavailable: Sosaia Feki, Alex Foster, James Clare, Suaia Matagi, Jacques O’Neill, Gareth O’Brien, Tyla Hepi, Daniel Smith, Jordan Turner
Salford Red Devils handed head coach Richard Marshall his first league win in charge as they overcame Leigh Centurions last week but he will be keen for his side to perform for the full 80 minutes in this tough clash with Castleford Tigers. The Red Devils were guilty of making too many errors in that contest and despite running away with it late on, it did not hide what was ultimately another poor performance. They now take on a Cas side that were beaten for the first time this campaign against Wigan Warriors last week but the Tigers showed enough in defeat to suggest they can bounce straight back here and the away side should prevail in this one.
