  • Castleford Tigers ended their losing run in the Super League at four matches as they got the better of Wakefield Trinity in their derby clash which turned out to be a scrappy affair but they will not mind having done what was required to get back to winning ways.
  • The Tigers maintained their hoodoo over their local rivals but they will find it hard to back that success up with a huge list of unavailable players including the influential Jake Trueman and Paul McShane.

20-man squad: Bienek, Clare, Evalds, Foster, Graham, Griffin, Hall, Holmes, Martin, Massey, Milner, Olpherts, O’Neill, Peachey, Qareqare, Richardson, Shenton, Smith, Turner, Watts

Unavailable: Sosaia Feki, Grant Millington, Gareth O’Brien, Jake Trueman, Greg Eden, Cheyse Blair, Paul McShane, Jesse Sene-Lefao, Peter Mata’utia, Suaia Matagi

  • Catalans Dragons come into this encounter with Castleford Tigers at the top of the Super League despite last week’s game with Leeds Rhinos being postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Leeds squad.
  • The Dragons have won their last five Super League matches although they were given a big wake-up call as they only just overcame winless Leigh Centurions in their last encounter and they are now without England internationals Sam Tomkins and Tom Davies.

21-man squad: Baitieri, Belmas, Bousquet, Chan, Da Costa, Drinkwater, Dudson, Franco, Goudemand, Jullien, Kasiano, Laguerre, Langi, Maloney, McIlorum, McMeeken, Mourgue, Rouge, Whare, Whitley, Yaha

Unavailable: Israel Folau, Joel Tomkins, Michael McIlorum, Ben Garcia, Sam Tomkins, Tom Davies

Questionable: Alrix Da Costa, Matt Whitley, Gil Dudson

Castleford Tigers and Catalans Dragons come into this in contrasting form in the Super League, despite the hosts winning their latest contest last week. That was a first win in five league outings, a far cry from the French outfit’s five successive victories. The Dragons have risen to the top of the league with some superb performances of late and while the loss of Sam Tomkins is a big one, they look to have the strength in depth to cope but the same cannot be said of Castleford. They are missing a lot of talent and with three of those being playmakers, they look set to fall short here with Catalans able to consolidate their spot at the top of the table.
