Head Coach: Simon Woolford

Squad: English, Frawley, Gaskell, Lawrence, Leeming, McGilvary, Matagi, McIntosh, Mellor, Murphy, O’Brien, Roberts, Russell, L. Senior, I. Senior, Ta’ai, Walne, Ja. Wardle, Wilson

Unavailable: Akuila Uate, Joe Wardle, Dale Ferguson, Leroy Cudjoe, Jordan Turner, Paul Clough, Sebastine Ikahihifo

  • Huddersfield produced a solid performance as they claimed a huge win over relegation rivals Hull KR in their last outing but now face another pivotal game in their bid to stay up as they host fellow strugglers Leeds.
  • Question marks still surround the halfback role for the Giants with Matt Frawley a surprising omission from the squad against Hull KR and Oliver Russell is called up here but there is no place for Tom Holmes following a poor showing against Rovers.
  • Sebastine Ikahihifo drops out with a knock but is replaced by the returning Oliver Roberts in the only other change to Huddersfield’s 19-man squad for this important West Yorkshire derby.

Head Coach: Richard Agar

Squad: T. Briscoe, Cuthbertson, Donaldson, Dwyer, Ferres, Handley, Hurrell, Lui, Lunt, Martin, Merrin, Myler, Newman, Peteru, Seumanufagai, Singleton, Smith, L. Sutcliffe, Walker

Unavailable: Dom Crosby, Stevie Ward, Carl Ablett

  • Leeds could not keep their winning run on home soil against Hull FC going as they were edged out by the Black and Whites and now face a huge relegation four-pointer as they travel to Huddersfield.
  • Richie Myler was banned for Leeds' last game but has served his suspension and is likely to come straight back into the side with youngster Callum McLelland making way for the Rhinos halfback.
  • That is the only change to Richard Agar’s 19-man squad from their last game and unless they suffer any injury setbacks before the game, it is likely that Myler’s inclusion at scrum half will be the only change to Leeds’ 17 but there are numerous options who could drop out for him.

This is a huge game at the bottom of the Super League table with both teams desperate for a win to give themselves some breathing space. Leeds have crumbled in recent games following an upturn in form whilst the Giants are always unpredictable but they can just edge this one on home soil. They did what was needed against Hull KR in their last game and can build on that but will need more consistency from whichever halfback pairing take to the field or Leeds could get on top.
