THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Morris, Manu, Ikuvalu, Keary, Flanagan, Waerea-Hargreaves, Friend, Taukeiaho, Crichton, Aubusson, Radley – Interchanges: Verills, Liu, Suluka-Fifita, Collins – Reserves: Faamausili, Lam

Unavailable: Billy Smith (Injured), Boyd Cordner (Rested), Ryan Hall (Injured), Sitili Tupouniua (Injured), Nat Butcher (Injured)

  • Sydney Roosters suffered a poor start to the defence of their Premiership as they threw away a 12-point lead away at Penrith and will be eager to put that loss behind them as they take on Manly at Leichhardt Oval.
  • The Roosters are still without captain Boyd Cordner who is likely to return from his extended period of rest in round 3 but Angus Crichton has fought off a chest infection and will line-up in the second row.
  • He takes the place of the injured Sitili Tupouniua in what was set to be an otherwise unchanged 17 from last week’s defeat, but Nat Butcher has been a late scratching from the bench with his place taken by Daniel Suluka-Fifita.

MANLY SEA EAGLES

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, Taufua, Parker, Suli, Garrick, Walker, Cherry-Evans, Fonua-Blake, Levi, Taupau, Thompson, Sironen, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Croker, Keppie, Boyle, Olakau’atu – Reserves: Sipley, Elliot

Unavailable: Manase Fainu (Disciplinary), Jake Gosiewski (Injured), Albert Hopoate (Injured), Taniela Paseka (Injured)

  • Manly crumbled late on as a tight game against Melbourne was decided by three Storm tries in the final quarter of the game and they will be eager to show more with the ball this week having managed just two penalty goals in their opening round defeat.
  • Despite Manly's defeat last week, head coach Des Hasler has seen no reason to make any changes to his side for this contest with the Roosters and has retained the same 17 with the Sea Eagles managing to avoid any injuries against the Storm.
  • There was some hope that Taniela Paseka would be fit enough to return in round 2 but he has still not quite fully recovered from an ankle injury and is set to come into contention next week.

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters fell away against Penrith last week and suffered a disappointing loss as a result. They will be keen to bounce back but face a tough task against Manly on neutral ground and with little to split the two teams, this could be a close contest. Manly failed to cross the whitewash last week and in a game where defences are likely to be on top, this should be a low-scoring contest that goes under 37.5 points.
