Head Coach: Trent Robinson

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Mitchell, Manu, Morris, Keary, Cronk, Waerea-Hargreaves, Verrills, Liu, Cordner, Aubusson, Radley – Interchanges: Crichton, Tetevano, Butcher, Taukeiaho Reserves: Collins, Tupouniua, Hutchison, Hall

Unavailable: Jake Friend

  • Sydney Roosters will need to overturn their loss to South Sydney last week if they are to advance to the preliminary final but they are able to name a much stronger line-up for this opening game of the play-offs.
  • The Roosters will have Luke Keary at their disposal after he was rested last week but the game has come too soon for Jake Friend who will remain on the sidelines for at least another week with his arm injury.
  • Siosiua Taukeiaho, Brett Morris and Mitch Aubusson are also back in the side after they were left out with minor knocks last week which sees Lindsay Collins, Sitili Tupouniua, Billy Smith and Drew Hutchison drop out.

Head Coach: Wayne Bennett

Starting 13: Doueihi, Johnston, Roberts, Graham, Allan, Walker, Reynolds, Tatola, Cook, Knight, Sutton, Su’A, Murray – Interchanges: Lowe, Britt, T. Burgess, Nicholls – Reserves: G. Burgess, Sironen, Tracey, Hiroti

Unavailable: Braidon Burns, Kyle Turner, Dane Gagai, Sam Burgess

  • South Sydney Rabbitohs ended the season in third place to ensure a grudge match against rivals Sydney Roosters in Week 1 of the finals and will be looking to make it three wins out of three against the Roosters so far this season.
  • Sam Burgess will be missing for the Rabbitohs after he accepted a one-match ban for contrary conduct against the Roosters last week but his younger twin brothers are available again with Tom returning from a knee injury to appear on the bench.
  • George has served his nine-match ban for eye-gouging and despite only featuring among the listed reserves, head coach Wayne Bennett has confirmed he will play whilst James Roberts is also back from his two-match ban and will replace the injured Dane Gagai.

The NRL play-offs get underway with a blockbuster clash between Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs. The bitter rivals will meet after the Rabbitohs defeated the Roosters last week but both teams will look different here with players set to return to bolster the ranks - but it should be more help to the home side. The Roosters are now only missing Jake Friend from their strongest 17 and with home advantage also on their side, they can progress to the semi-finals.
