THE TEAM NEWS

PARRAMATTA EELS

Head Coach: Brad Arthur

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, Takairangi, Blake, Parry, D. Brown, Moses, Evans, Mahoney, Paulo, Niukore, Ma’u, N. Brown – Interchanges: Kaufusi, Alvaro,Gower, Moeroa – Reserves: Salmon, Davey

Unavailable: Michael Jennings, Peni Terepo, George Jennings, Ray Stone, Blake Ferguson, Shaun Lane

  • Parramatta suffered defeat against Manly in their important clash and will need to quickly bounce back as they return home with numerous teams now clustered around the lower end of the play-off spots
  • Blake Ferguson misses out again after minor knee surgery but Waqa Blake will make his first appearance for the Eels as he comes into the side in the centres following his arrival from Penrith and overcoming a syndesmosis injury.
  • Shaun Lane is also out for the Eels with a finger injury whilst Jaeman Salmon has been dropped which could mean that Reed Mahoney could play the full 80 minutes in the hooking role.

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

Head Coach: Stephen Kearney

Starting 13: Tuivasa-Sheck, Beale, Hiku, Ayshford, Maumalo, Harris-Tavita, Green, Paasi, Luke, Ah Mau, Blair, Papali’i, Tevaga – Interchanges: Burr, Lisone, Afoa, Keighran – Reserves: Pompey, Sao

Unavailable: Tohu Harris, Nathaniel Roache, Karl Lawton, David Fusitu’a, Kodi Nikorima

  • New Zealand Warriors produced a gutsy victory as they came from behind to beat Cronulla and massively boost their play-off chances as they made it three consecutive games without defeat.
  • David Fusitu'a is set to miss the next two games with a hamstring injury whilst Kodi Nikorima has been ruled out for the Warriors with Chanel Haris-Tavita set to start at five-eighth in Nikorima’s absence and Adam Keighran will come onto the bench.
  • Ken Maumalo is back in the side after missing out last week through a head knock and replaces Adam Pompey whilst Blake Ayshford will shift inside to play in the centres with Gerard Beale on the wing.

THE PREDICTION

This is a vital game for both teams with Parramatta needing to win to avoid the gap closing between the two teams to just one point. That would really put pressure on the Eels and draw them back in to the chasing pack but they are strong on home soil and can edge this. The loss of Kodi Nikorima could prove to be pivotal in this game with the Warriors starting to look like they could find some consistency but they may not be able to overcome his absence.
