THE TEAM NEWS

PESHAWAR ZALMI

Coach: Mohammad Akram

Captain: Darren Sammy

  • As the competition moves to Abu Dhabi, Zalmi come into this phase as the form team having won their last three matches and five of the last six to top the PSL ladder so confidence is high ahead of this top of the table clash.

  • They need their all-rounders to clinch the game for them yet again last time out as Liam Dawson was the star hitting 52 runs from 35 balls including a last ball four to beat Islamabad United and he along with Kieron Pollard continue to be key for the side.

  • Kamran Akmal showed some signs of regaining some form with 19 runs in that last match after just 11 in his previous six innings and they desperately need him to improve as the top order remains somewhat fragile and there is every chance they go unchanged for this match.

QUETTA GLADIATORS

Coach: Moin Khan

Captain: Sarfraz Ahmed

  • Quetta Gladiators got back to winning ways last time out against the Sultans following two previous defeats as the arrival of Dwayne Bravo helped them to a relatively comfortable six wickets win in that game.

  • Bravo took 3/19 from his four overs while talented young pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain came into the side to take 1/20 but impressed with his bowling reaching speeds of over 150 kph as their bowling attack looks to have improved.

  • Sunil Narine continues to be affected by his finger injury so is not expected to feature and although Fawad Ahmed has only taken two wickets in his last five matches, he should retain his place until Narine does become available.

THE PREDICTION

The top two teams in the PSL ladder meet in the first game in Abu Dhabi for what should be a highly entertaining affair. The Gladiators started strongly but their performances have dropped a little although they did bounce back from two defeats last time out. Zalmi are playing well and are the form side in the competition right now, although they look far from unbeatable. The Gladiators will be motivated to regain top spot and their greater quality with the bat may make the difference.
