HEAD-TO-HEAD
All-time meetings: Karachi Kings W0, Quetta Gladiators W4

KARACHI KINGS

Coach: Mickey Arthur

Captain: Imad Wasim

  • The Karachi Kings only have a 37% win ratio in the two season played so far in the PSL so they will be looking to improve on that this season after having made some big name signings for this edition.
  • The Kings brought Shahid Afridi to the club for this edition and he will add some depth as an allrounder while they have invested heavily in their overseas stars with Denly and Mills being signed to replace the unavailable Wright and Johnson, along with Morgan, Ingram, Simmons and Bopara.
  • Babar Azam and skipper Imad Wasim will be key as local Pakistani players but they will need their all-round players to step up and support star fast bowler Mohammad Amir in a squad that looks top heavy with batsmen and light on quality bowling options.

QUETTA GLADIATORS

Coach: Moin Khan

Captain: Sarfraz Ahmed

  • The Quetta Gladiators have been runners-up on both occasions in the PSL so far so they will be looking to go one better in PSL 2018 and they have assembled a star-studded squad.
  • Carlos Brathwaite is unavailable and they have prodigy Jofra Archer to replace him which is arguably an upgrade based on Archer’s form in the Big Bash and they will hope their overseas stars including Kevin Pietersen can lead them to glory.
  • Their squad will be disrupted during PSL 2018 due to international call-ups but they will hope the likes of Rashid Khan and Jason Roy can make an impact while available, but the likes of Shane Watson, Rilee Rossouw and Sarfraz Ahmed will be available throughout and can carry them to success.

PREDICTION
The Gladiators arguably have the best batting line-up in PSL 2018 but the Kings are not far behind in firepower. The Kings may just the edge in bowling attacks but they will need Tymal Mills to recover from a disastrous Big Bash tournament in which he was hit to all parts. If either side’s batting line-up really click, that has to favour the Gladiators who have the greater depth in that area and have dominated recent matches against the Kings.
