Marco Silva makes his managerial bow for Watford at home to Liverpool and is unbeaten against them after leading Hull to victory against Jurgen Klopp’s men last season.

There has never been a Premier League draw between these two sides. Liverpool have won six and Watford have won two.

These two sides have faced each other 28 times in all competitions and Watford have won just five of them while suffering 20 defeats.

That Anfield thrashing was also Watford’s heaviest ever defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

Watford have drawn their last two opening weekend fixtures since returning to the top flight in 2015.

Liverpool however have won their last four opening weekend fixtures – with last season’s 4-3 win over Arsenal at The Emirates the pick of the bunch.

Liverpool are a Premier League ever-present and have won 13 of their 25 opening day fixtures (52% win rate).

Liverpool conceded the first ever live Premier League goal back in August 1992 when Teddy Sheringham scored for Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Last season, the aggregate scoreline after the two head-to-heads was 7-1 to Liverpool, thanks largely to the emphatic 6-1 win for Liverpool at Anfield back in Novermber 2016.
