Brighton come into this game having been previously dealt a defeat by West Brom last weekend which has seen them slide closer to the relegation zone, and this weekend they play host to a Chelsea side who are under pressure for different reasons. It has been a frustrating period of draws for Antonio Conte’s men as of late and they can ill afford another one on the South Coast come Saturday. The defending league champions do have that additional quality though and even after recent form they will go into this game as favourites.
The only previous Premier League meeting between these two sides took place on Boxing Day of last year. Stamford Bridge was the setting as Chelsea eventually went up through the gears to get the better of Brighton. It needed two second half goals from the Blues, but they were ultimately good value for the win as they gave their fans some late Christmas cheer after earning all three points.
