THE LOWDOWN

Jordan Griffin was slated to face Darrick Minner two weeks ago but that fight was cancelled and he now finds himself fighting Youssef Zalal. He brings a 18-7 record coming into this fight and comes off a submission win over TK Brown which will have given him a big confidence boost after consecutive decision losses at the hands of Chas Kelly and Dan Ige prior to that win. After his bout was scratched against Minner at late notice, that should not overly upset his preparations for this fight however.

23-year-old Zalal comes into this fight having made a successful UFC debut back in February as he beat Austin Lingo by decision. He carries an 8-2 record with five of those wins coming via submission and he will be highly motivated to get another win under his belt against his more experienced opponent.

THE PREDICTION

There is plenty of intrigue around this fight as Youssef ‘The Moroccan Devil’ Zalal faces off against veteran Jordan ‘The Native Psycho’ Griffin. Zalal made a winning debut back in February in the Octagon and he will provide a stern test to Griffin. Both fighters have solid submission skills but their styles may nullify each other in some respects. With neither possessing huge knockout power, this fight looks set to go the distance and Zalal’s youth and greater energy may just see him edge this on the scorecards.

Winner: Zalal via decision
