Ukrainian submission-specialist Aleksei Oleinik comes into this fight having stopped Maurice Greene via armbar submission back in January. His last three defeats have all come via KO/TKO but with 46 of his 58 wins coming via submission, there is no mistaking how he will approach this fight with fellow 42-year-old Werdum.

Werdum is coming off a two-year lay-off due to a ban for taking an illegal substance so it remains to be seen whether the veteran will suffer from ring-rust. His last fight in March 2018 saw him lose by knockout to Alexander Volkov and he has won three and lost three of his last six bouts.

There will be no surprises as to how Oleinik will approach this fight as he will look for the submission opportunity right from the start but he will be wary of taking a shot as his chin has proved questionable. Werdum will be keen to test that as early as possible but it is unlikely he will possess the punching power to take advantage of that potential weakness. The Brazilian has not been in the Octagon for over two years and that could well be a factor coming into a fight where neither one has likely been able to prepare like they usually would. That should play into the hands of Oleinik who will capitalise on any slight mistake and submit Werdum.

Winner: Aleksei Oleinik via submission
