Day One - 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final Blog

So day one is over here at the FIFA 18 eWorld Cup Grand Final. Be sure to join us again here on the live blog tomorrow from 12pm for Day 2 here at the O2 Arena. The final two rounds of group matches will be played before the first two rounds of knockout games. Until then, that's all from us. See you tomorrow!

As we come to the end of Day 1 at the Championship here are the final tables after Round 5 of matches of Group B (Xbox) and Group D (PS4):

A big day ahead for the Dutchman tomorrow.

That's it, the fifth round of Groups B and D are over and with that play for the day. Wins for Gorilla, The StrnxgeR and Msdossary round off the day along with a hard fought draw between AndoniiPM and Hashtag Agge.

The TropSe Masters champion announces his departure. A disappointing event for two of Hashtag United's three eWorld Cup finalists as Boras and dreamR cannot qualify from their respective groups.

History being made here at the FIFA 18 eWorld Cup

The first leg of Round 5 is over and the goals are flying in. FaZe's Gorilla (the reigning eWorld Cup) champion is 4-4 against "Sakul". Marcuzo is 5-1 against Lille's Maestro and Crafty vs JSSF107 is also at 4-4. Second leg coming up!

The final round of matches today are getting underway now. Round 5 in Groups B and D.

Safe to say Kurt is delighted with his day's work. He will be in the knockout stages tomorrow.

We're deep into the second leg of round four and in the Group D glamour match Hashtag United's Agge is tied 4-4 with Man City's Marcuzo. Msdossary of Rogue is 7-4 ahead on aggregate against JSSF107, while GoalMachine is 3-2 clear of Vitality's newest signing Rafsou.

“I started really slow but then got better and better. I’ve scored loads of goals. With two games in the groups remaining I can test different formations and players out to see what’s working before the knockout stages.”

Kurt speaking to us after today’s action in Group A.

“I mostly relish the pressure of carrying the torch for the USA. I’m taking it game by game and not getting my head into the clouds.”

Alekzandur of Sporting Kansas City after the first five rounds of Group A see him make it to the knockouts with four wins.

“I’m really confident. I know that when I’m at 100% I can and will beat anyone. I have to keep my composure, stay calm, play how I know I can play and I can win the whole tournament”.

MegaBit speaking exclusively to us after winning his first five group games.

In the final Group C game, Nicolas defeated deto 4-3 on aggregate to finish with five wins out of five and secure his place in the knockouts.

After Round one in Group D we have wins for Hashtag Agge, Andonii, TheStrnxgeR and MoAubaeyang. Defeat for the second seed M4RV of Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

We’ve been speaking to a number of FIFA eWorld Cup players. Look out for quotes later on. For now it’s all about Groups B and D.

After round one, Group B saw wins for Crafty, Msdossary and NRaseck. The 2017 eWorld Cup winner Gorilla drew 4-4 with JSSF107

Whereas for Group C the table looks like this at the end of Round 5:

No. 1 seed nicolas99fc is already through along with StefanoPinna21. Unfortunately Hashtag's day gets worse as Hashtag Boras join Hashtag DreamR in being eliminated by the end of day 1.

At the end of Round 5 Group A looks like this

MegaBit and Kurt0411 are safely through to the knockout stages whereas Hashtag DreamR has already been eliminated

Group A and C is done for the day. MegaBit came out on top in round 5 with a 9-7 win over Alekzandur to finish top of group A with two rounds to go. Stefano Pinna and Nicolas head up Group C.

Currently in the midst of round 5 of Groups A and C. An outstanding match going down between MegaBit and Alekzandur. The score is currently 7-7 on aggregate!

Group C currently sees Eisvogel, Stefano Pinna and YimmieHD on course to join Nicolas in the knockout stages, but there’s plenty of FIFA left to play and both HoneyBadger and deto are hot on their heels.

Round 4 is done and both top seeds remain top of their respective groups. Group A is already looking locked down with six points separating 4th place Ajax Dani and 5th place Pedro Resende. Alekzandur and Kurt are in second and third respectively

It’s crunch time for deto! He’s currently 6-4 up against “HoneyBadger” of FUTWIZ. Twenty minutes left in the second leg to secure his first win of the group stages.

The number one Xbox seed is still looking unbeatable as MegaBit currently leads 5-3 over FIFA eClub World Cup runner up “Aero”. In the stand out Round 4 match in Group C, top PS4 seed Nicolas is 3-1 ahead against Eisvogel of Team EnVyUs.

And here is Group C. As with the Xbox, number one seed Nicolas is sitting pretty at the top with three wins in three. Last years beaten finalist Deto needs to get motoring as he sits 2nd bottom, yet to record a win.

After three rounds of Group A action here is your up to date table. The top Xbox One seed MegaBit is the only player with a perfect record. Bad news for the only Welshman at the O2 Arena as dreamR has lost all three of his games. Four more rounds to go.

Late but great drama for the Sporting Kansas City man. “Alekzandur” putting himself in a good position in Group A as round three concludes.

It’s not looking good for the 2017 FIFA eWorld Cup runner up!

Man City’s “deto” is without a win in the group stages so far and hasn’t just conceded a late goal to go 5-6 down against YimmieHD. It would be a real shock if the German was to go out in the group stages but he has some serious work to do!

We’re currently in the second leg of Round 3 matches in Group A and C. Kurt is currently 4-0 ahead on aggregate against “Ajax Dani” and “MegaBit” the number one seed is 3-1 up against Brazilian Pedro Resende
