The Lowdown

LEIGH CENTURIONS

  • Leigh have now lost their last seven matches in a row and after a relatively bright start to the season, they have now plummeted to 11th in the table with only Widnes below them.
  • Prop Gareth Hock returns to the 19-man squad along with James Green, Mitch Brown and Gregg McNally as Neil Jukes shuffles his squad to keep the side fresh as there are plenty of injury niggles within the camp.
  • Every game is becoming increasingly important for Leigh if they are to have any hopes of avoiding the Qualifiers and finishing in the bottom four, so they need to start picking up results.

Head Coach: Neil Jukes

Squad: Jamie Acton, Mitch Brown, Lachlan Burr, Ben Crooks, Matty Dawson, Josh Drinkwater, James Green, Ryan Hampshire, Harrison Hansen, Gareth Hock, Liam Hood, Sam Hopkins, Gregg McNally, Curtis Naughton, Eloi Pelissier, Ben Reynolds, Glenn Stewart, Danny Tickle, Dayne Weston

Unavailable: James Clare (Knee), Atelea Vea, Dave Thompson, Martyn Ridyard, Adam Higson, Micky Higham, Tom Armstrong, Cory Paterson, Willie Tonga, Antoni Maria

WAKEFIELD TRINITY

  • Trinity managed to snap their three-match losing run last week when they defeated the Catalan Dragons 30-10 but the win did not come without major consequences.
  • They were dealt a major blow this week with the news that the injury that winger Tom Johnstone picked up last week turned out to be a serious one and he has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
  • Bill Tupou and Reece Lyne return to the squad after injury while Ashley Gibson is the other player to make way from the 19-man squad along with Johnstone.

Head Coach: Chris Chester

Squad: Tinirau Arona, Joe Arundel, Matty Ashurst, James Batchelor, Mason Caton-Brown, Anthony England, David Fifita, Liam Finn, Scott Grix, Dean Hadley, Keegan Hirst, Craig Huby, Ben Jones-Bishop, Danny Kirmond, Reece Lyne, Jacob Miller, Bill Tupou, Sam Williams, Kyle Wood

Unavailable: Tom Johnstone (Knee), Mitch Allgood (Injured), Chris Annakin, Mikey Sio, Anthony Walker, Jordan Crowther, Max Jowitt, Ashley Gibson

Analysis - what to expect
It is difficult to have much confidence in Leigh at the moment during this seven-match losing run and Wakefield will present them with a tough match here. The visitors picked up a good win against the Dragons last week and despite losing star winger Tom Johnstone, their squad is in much better shape than Leigh's injury-hit squad. Even though Wakefield are inconsistent and a little hit and miss, it is easier to have more confidence in the visitors here until Leigh can raise their game.
