THE TEAM NEWS

NASHVILLE PREDATORS

  • The Predators enter this game coming off a 2-1 overtime loss at the San Jose Sharks and that result extended their negative run since they have won just once in their last five outings (W1, LO2, L2). They have also dropped their last two games on the road, although one of those losses was in overtime. The Preds are fifth in the West with 21 points (W8, WO1, LO3, L5).
  • The Predators do not have any injury concerns ahead of this matchup. Dante Fabbro, who took a puck to the face during Saturday’s matchup against the Sharks, should be fit and available for this one. This amazing run of health will allow head coach Peter Laviolette to assemble their lines at full strength looking to end the team’s negative run of form.
  • Filip Forsberg should be Nashville’s player to watch here. The Swedish winger has scored in three straight games after netting against San Jose the last time out and is on a four-game point streak (three goals, two assists) since the start of November. He has 13 points (G8, A5) in 11 games this season.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS

  • The Canucks dropped their fourth straight game, this time against the New Jersey Devils by a 2-1 score. The Canadian franchise has suffered three losses on regulation during that four-game skid. They sit in seventh place of the Western Conference standings with 21 points (W7, WO2, LO3, L6).
  • Forward Micheal Ferland has been listed as a game-time decision for this matchup due to a concussion. Meanwhile, center Tyler Motte and left winger Antoine Roussel remain sidelined due to lower body and knee injuries, respectively. Both are slated to return somewhere around mid-December.
  • Brock Boeser is coming off a power-play-goal appearance the last time out, and he has three assists with one goal over Vancouver’s last five games. The 22-year-old right winger is having a torrid start to the season, notching eight goals and 10 assists in 18 games thus far.

THE PREDICTION

Both teams enter this game in similar conditions. Both have lost four of their previous five contests, have the same point total and own a +11 goal differential. Nashville have struggled badly on the road, though, where they have won just two of seven games during the current campaign while registering a -3 goal differential. Meanwhile, the Canucks have averaged over 4.0 goals per game at home this season. That should be enough to consider the Canucks as favourites to get the win here.
