• The Oilers are coming off a 6-4 away win over the Toronto Maple Leafs and that result pushed their winning streak to two games while putting Edmonton on the winning side in three of their last four contests. The Oilers currently sit in sixth place of the Western Conference with 51 points out of 45 games.
• Edmonton could welcome defenceman Matt Benning back, as he has been listed as a game-time decision due to a head injury. Meanwhile, defenceman Ryan Mantha remains sidelined and could return next month at the earliest.
• Connor McDavid is the player to watch every time the Oilers play, and this game won’t be the exception. He had four points (one goal, three assists) during the Oilers’ win at Toronto, and he has already racked up 69 points in only 45 games this season (24 goals, 45 assists).

MONTREAL CANADIENS

• Montreal are going through their worst stretch of form during the season and are coming off a disappointing 4-3 loss against the Detroit Red Wings that extended their losing streak to seven games. As a result, the Canadiens have fallen to 13th place in the Eastern Conference with 43 points out of 44 games.
• Star winger Brendan Gallagher could return ahead of this match since he is dealing with concussion-like symptoms, but he will be a game-time decision. Plus, the Canadiens also have to deal with several absences due to injury and that should weaken them even more. This all-Canadian contest should end up with a relatively comfortable win for the Oilers.
