The Lowdown

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

  • Huddersfield were impressive as they took full advantage of Hull having one eye on the Challenge Cup final by defeating them 18-46 at the KCOM Stadium.
  • The Giants now return to home soil where they are unbeaten in their last six Super League games, winning five of those and drawing the other.
  • Rick Stone is able to recall four players from injury with skipper Leroy Cudjoe, Sam Rapira, Dale Ferguson and Oliver Roberts all recovering in time to make the 19-man squad. Daniel Smith, Nathan Mason, Gene Ormsby and Tyler Dickinson are the men to make way.

Head Coach: Rick Stone

Squad: Danny Brough, Paul Clough, Leroy Cudjoe, Dale Ferguson, Lee Gaskell, Ryan Hinchcliffe, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Michael Lawrence, Kruise Leeming, Jermaine McGillvary, Darnell McIntosh, Alex Mellor, Adam O'Brien, Jordan Rankin, Sam Rapira, Oliver Roberts, Ukuma Ta'ai, Jordan Turner, Shannon Wakeman

Unavailable: Tom Symonds (Knee), Jake Mamo (Foot), Aaron Murphy (Toe), Martyn Ridyard (Shoulder), Nathan Mason, Daniel Smith, Gene Ormsby, Tyler Dickinson

CASTLEFORD TIGERS

  • Castleford claimed the League Leaders' Shield with a win over local rivals Wakefield last time out. The Tigers have been the best side in the competition this season and have now secured a home semi-final.
  • Daryl Powell looks set to rotate his squad to keep them fresh ahead of the end-of-season run-in. Mike McMeeken, Grant Millington and Andy Lynch are rested this week, allowing Kevin Larroyer, Gadwin Springer and Larne Patrick a chance to shine.
  • With top place secure, this could be a potential banana skin for Cas if they take their foot off the gas but they have beaten the Giants in their last four Super League encounters.

Head Coach: Daryl Powell

Squad: Matt Cook, Greg Eden, Alex Foster, Luke Gale, Zak Hardaker, Jy Hitchcox, Oliver Holmes, Kevin Larroyer, Nathan Massey, Paul McShane, Adam Milner, Greg Minikin, Junior Moors, Larne Patrick, Ben Roberts, Jesse Sene-Lefao, Michael Shenton, Gadwin Springer, Jake Webster

Unavailable: Andy Lynch (Rested), Mike McMeeken (Rested), Grant Millington (Rested), Joel Monaghan, Tom Holmes

Analysis - what to expect
Whilst sitting just three points outside of the top four, Huddersfield sit bottom of the Super 8s table and look unlikely to make the semi-finals. With Castleford now having secured the League Leaders' Shield, there's a chance complacency could set in for them and this could allow Huddersfield to pull off a shock result with them having nothing to lose. However, Cas have lost just one of their last 15 Super League games and they will be looking to extend that run here.
