Pond Road will hope to finally get his nose in front as he attempts to turn potential into some tangible results. He has shown good ability over hurdles but will need to improve in handicaps to end his drought although the step-up to 3m should aid his quest.
If he is to get himself in front, he is likely to have to fend off the challenge of Espoir Moriviere. He has ran on heavy ground recently but this race on the soft may be more suited and he should mount a big challenge. He is yet to win in nine attempts at handicaps but has finished in the frame on three occasions and should do so again.
Skylanna Breeze has disappointed this season with some poor finishes but did show some promise last time out in a solid handicap when sixth of 18. The step up to 3m is a big one and is an unknown for the horse with his stamina set to receive a serious examination.
Pond Road stayed on well at the finish of his last race over 2m 4f and the step-up in trip should be welcomed. He is yet to be first past the post but a similar effort to that run at Huntingdon would give him a great chance, especially if the extra distance is what he needs.
