Cheltenham Festival 2020 – Randox Health County Handicap Hurdle tips & prediction
JP McManus has enjoyed a great week so far and it could get better yet with Ciel De Neige (9/2) and Saint Roi (13/2) topping the market for the County Handicap Hurdle. The former was third in last year’s Fred Winter and has posted two solid second places so far this season. He is up 4lb in the weights from his most recent run at Newbury but that may not prevent him from getting his nose in front here. Interestingly, Barry Geraghty is booked to ride the latter and he has seen plenty of market support despite being unexposed with a lowly-mark potentially what is attracting interest after he won at the second time of asking in a maiden on New Year’s Day.
With three wins from the last four renewals of this race, Dan Skelton will be confident of more success with 2018 winner Mohaayed (12/1) once again set to be a major player. He is only 3lbs higher than when he claimed that success and having undergone a wind operation since his last run, that could prove to be a benefit.
Ciel De Neige looks to be the best horse in the field and may take some beating if he handles his 4lb rise from an impressive second in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury. He has shown he can handle Cheltenham with a strong showing in last year’s Fred Winter and should be able to earn another Festival success for owner JP McManus but Mohaayed can run a solid race at a big price and looks a strong each-way option.
