THE TEAM NEWS

PACHUCA

  • Pachuca enter this game following a 2-0 away win over Atlas and that result extended their winning streak in league play to two games. They are on the rise with three wins in their last four Liga MX matches and sit in ninth place of the standings with 10 points.
  • Los Tuzos are dealing with several injuries on both sides of the ball, with the biggest being the absence of Emmanuel Garcia Vaca. Victor Mora, Pablo Lopez and Eugenio Pizzuto have all been ruled out as well.

Expected starting XI: Oscar Ustari; Kevin Alvarez, Gustavo Cabral, Oscar Murillo, Miguel Angel Tapias; Erick Aguirre, Luis Chavez, Rubens Sambueza, Jorge Daniel Hernandez; Franco Jara, Colin Kazim-Richards

QUERETARO

  • Gallos Blancos suffered a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Atletico San Luis the last time out and now have dropped two of their last three league games. They remain firmly entrenched in the playoff zone, however, as they sit in fifth place of the standings with 12 points.
  • Even though striker Ariel Nahuelpan missed last week’s match due to a stomach problem, he should be ready to return here and if that’s the case Enrique Triverio would head back to the bench.

Expected starting XI: Gil Alcala; Jorge Luis Aguilar, Julian Velazquez, Jaime Gomez, Areli Hernandez; Marcel Ruiz, Jefferson Orejuela, Clifford Aboagye, Fabian Castillo; Ariel Nahuelpan (Enrique Triverio), Jeison Lucumi

THE PREDICTION

Both clubs have posted a W3, L2 mark in their last five league matches but Queretaro have been far more consistent throughout the season. That said, Pachuca have the edge of playing at home and they have taken maximum points in three of their last four league matches while also coming off back-to-back clean sheets. Los Tuzos are clearly pointing in the right direction, and they should be able to win here in front of their crowd.
