THE TEAM NEWS
- Rayados de Monterrey are winless in their first two Clausura matches and they are coming off a 1-0 away loss at Pumas UNAM. Having taken just one of the six points available to them, they are in dire need of a bounce-back performance but they registered a 3-0 win over Celaya in the Copa MX earlier this week which should boost their morale going forward.
- Monterrey are nearly free of injuries ahead of this matchup. Their lone absentee is Aviles Hurtado as the Colombian forward continues to undergo rehab from a serious knee injury but new signing Matias Kranevitter could be available off the bench.
Expected starting XI: Marcelo Barovero; Stefan Medina, Cesar Montes, Nicolas Sanchez, Leonel Vangioni; Celso Ortiz, Carlos Rodriguez; Dorlan Pabon, Maximiliano Meza, Rodolfo Pizarro; Rogelio Funes Mori
- Queretaro have started the Liga MX season on a strong note having won two of their first three Clausura matches. They are coming off back-to-back wins following their 1-0 away win at Puebla although they have lost four of their last five in all competitions when playing on the road.
- Gallos Blancos could be depleted defensively ahead of this game with both Alexis Perez and Jair Pereira ruled out. Starting striker Ariel Nahuelpan has been listed as a game-time decision after picking up a knock on his debut.
Expected starting XI: Gil Alcala;
Enrique Lopez, Jaime Gomez, Julian Velazquez, Areli Hernandez; Clifford
Aboagye; Jeison Lucumi, Marcel Alejandro Ruiz, Jonathan Perlaza; Fabian
Castillo, Enrique Triverio
Queretaro might be coming off two straight wins in the Clausura but they tend to struggle on the road and they have conceded at least three goals in four of their last five away matches in all competitions. Monterrey are seriously underperforming so far and they are in dire need of a bounce-back performance with the talent in their squad capable of a lot more than they have shown so far. They are undefeated in their last nine home matches at the domestic level with six wins and three draws over that span and Rayados should take advantage of the fact they will be playing at home to earn their first win of the 2020 Clausura campaign.
