THE TEAM NEWS
- Atlas are the only team in the league yet to draw a single game and their “all or nothing” approach has resulted in two wins and four losses thus far. They are on a two-game losing streak following their 2-0 away defeat at Club America the last time out.
- Defensive midfielder Lorenzo Reyes remains sidelined with an undisclosed injury but he should able to return to the side quite soon. Jairo Torres is set to complete a one-match suspension, while defenders Jesus Angulo and Anderson Santamaria are both long-term absentees.
Expected starting XI: Camilo Vargas; José Abella, Germán Conti, Hugo Nervo, Ismael Govea; Angel Marquez, Ulises Cardona, Edgar Zaldivar; Luciano Acosta; Ignacio Jeraldino, Marcelo Correa
- Pachuca have traded wins and losses in their last four matches and they are coming off a 1-0 home win over Puebla. Los Tuzos have lost three matches already, but they have taken points in three of their last five contests and sit in 11th place of the standings with seven points.
- New signing Christian Cueva could be on the bench for this game but the starting XI shouldn’t see many changes compared to the side that has been playing in recent weeks. Emmanuel Garcia Vaca, Ignacio Pizutto, Pablo Lopez and Victor Mora all remain injured for Los Tuzos.
Expected starting XI: Oscar Ustari; Kevin Alvarez, Gustavo Cabral, Oscar Murillo, Miguel Angel Tapias; Erick Aguirre, Jorge Daniel Hernandez, Efrain Orona, Rubens Sambueza; Franco Jara, Colin Kazim-Richards
Neither Pachuca nor Atlas enter this game in a great run of form but Pachuca should have a slight edge since they have won two of their last three matches, while Atlas have dropped four of their last six. It is worth noting also that Pachuca are undefeated in their last seven games against Atlas in all competitions, but they have won just twice over that span. The recent-form edge should go to Pachuca and, considering how things are right now, that should be enough to list them as favourites.
