THE TEAM NEWS

DENMARK

  • A 1-0 win over Switzerland in their last European qualifier saw Denmark remain unbeaten in Group D. They go into this match against winless Gibraltar knowing that victory would see them qualify for Euro 2020 should the Swiss lose their game at home to Georgia.
  • A late goal from Yussuf Poulsen was enough to down the Swiss in Copenhagen, which now puts qualification firmly in Denmark’s hands with only two group games left to play.
  • Manager Age Hareide has no injury worries going into the game, with a full strength 23-man squad available at his disposal for these next two crunch clashes and despite the opposition, it’s expected that he’ll continue to field three central defenders with ultra offensive wing-backs on each flank.

GIBRALTAR

  • Gibraltar remain bottom of Group D having lost all six of their group matches thus far and are now mathematically out of contention for Euro 2020 qualification going into this game, although that was never a realistic prospect for them.
  • Top scorer Lee Casciaro found the net in Gibraltar’s most recent group match against Georgia and he looks set to lead the attack once again in Copenhagen.
  • Uncapped defenders Brad Power and Ethan Santos have both been named in the squad and either could make their first ever appearance for Gibraltar, whilst both Jayce Mascarenhas-Olivero and Jack Sergeant will have to tread carefully with each being one booking away from suspension

THE PREDICTION

This is a vital match for Denmark where they cannot afford any sort of slip up against a Gibraltar side with nothing but pride to play for. Any result other than a Danish win opens the door for Switzerland to leapfrog them in Group D, so the Danes will not take their opponents lightly. The reverse group fixture saw Denmark put six past Gibraltar away from home and the Danish crowd will be expecting a similar result here.
