The new coach is tasked with leading the club into the play-offs for the first time with The Men of Steel having finished fifth in each of the last two seasons.
  • Squad changes from last season have seen Sergio Cidoncha, Mario Arques, Michael Soosairaj and Australian legend Tim Cahill all depart. To bolster their attack, they have brought in Indian striker CK Vineeth along with Spanish duo Piti, who has a wealth of La Liga experience, and Atletico Madrid’s reserve team forward Sergio Castel.

  • Odisha are a new name in the Indian Super League this season, they were formally known as the Delhi Dynamos but were re-branded in the summer after their owners, GMS Shipping Corporation signed a deal with the Odisha state government, to relocate.
  • Former Barcelona academy coach Josep Gombau remains in charge of the club. On the pitch their star winger Lallianzuala Chhangte has left for Chennaiyin FC. New signings include Senegalese international Diawandou Diagne, Argentine midfielder Martin Guedes along with Spaniards Carlos Delgado and Xisco Hernandez.
  • They will be aiming to start the new era with a positive result, especially as it took 11 games last year for the club to get their first win of the season. Odisha aren’t helped by starting their campaign with four successive away fixtures as their new stadium will not be ready to host games until late November.

There will be a big Spanish influence in this match with Spaniards in charge of both teams and a number of Spanish players on the pitch. Both coaches like to play a possession-based style of play so it will be interesting to see who has the edge in that department. Jamshedpur look to be a more solid team defensively and this may be the key factor which decides the outcome of the game and backed by an enthusiastic crowd the home team are predicted to claim the three points.
