Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Horn; Ehizibue, Czichos, Jorge Mere, Hector; Hoger, Verstraete; Schindler, Drexler, Kainz; Terrode

Unavailable: Clemens (Injured)

Doubtful: Schaub (Injured), Katterbach (Injured)

  • Koln's return to the top flight ended in a 2-1 defeat at Wolfsburg last Saturday but there is sure to be a tremendous atmosphere at the RheinEnergieStadion for their first home game of the season.
  • Louis Schaub is still struggling with the ankle injury that kept him out of the trip to Wolfsburg but young left-back Noah Katterbach has returned to full training this week.
  • Anthony Modeste started as a lone striker against Wolfsburg but Simon Terrode came off the bench and scored and Jhon Cordoba is back from suspension, so coach Achim Beierlorzer has options up front.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Burki; Piszczek, Hummels, Akanji, Schulz; Weigl, Witsel; Sancho, Reus, Hazard; Paco Alcacer

Unavailable: Morey (Injured)

Doubtful: Burki (Injured), Raphael Guerreiro (Injured)

  • Borussia Dortmund sent out an early statement of intent on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga, recovering from an early goal to thrash Augsburg 5-1 at home.
  • First-choice goalkeeper Roman Burki did not recover in time to face Augsburg but is likely to be fit for this one, while Raphael Guerreiro also returned to full training at the start of the week.
  • Coach Lucien Favre therefore has no major personnel concerns and will have been pleased to see attackers Jadon Sancho, Paco Alcacer, Marco Reus and summer signing Julian Brandt all get off the mark last weekend.

Borussia Dortmund were the second-highest scorers in the Bundesliga last season and their high-quality attack already looked in top form on Matchday 1 as they put five past Augsburg. Koln have plenty of goals in them as well so this should be an entertaining contest with plenty of goals.
