FIFA 19 eSports – Players To Watch

Email

With the Gfinity FIFA Series March, the ePremier League, the eMLS Cup and the eChampions League on the horizon, we’ve got our thinking caps on and have come up with a number of players for you to watch out for heading into these events. We’ve identified these players based on the following categories:

  • The Numbers – A player who features higher on our own TSZ rankings leaderboard, compared to the Global Series Points leaderboard.
  • The Eye Test – A player who has caught the eye in a tournament in terms of style of play, or has had a recent positive result over a top player.
  • Recent Signing – A player who has recently been signed up to an eSports club/organisation, which could motivate and/or help them make the next leap in their FIFA career.
  • Online Form – A player who has been producing impressive results in Weekend League games or online qualification tournaments.

THE NUMBERS – M10Ustun

Before last weekend’s FUT Champions Cup Singapore, M10Ustun was ranked 21st in the FIFA Global Series rankings leaderboard. However, on our very own PS4 rankings, the Dane was ranked in 9th position, suggesting that a big offline performance was looking imminent. This prompted our Sports Content Manager Trystan to personally tip him for a strong showing in Asia on our most recent episode of eSports podcast. The M10 eSports player didn’t let Trystan down, producing a fantastic individual performance to win the PS4 console final and finish runner-up in the whole tournament, with the Dane now topping our PS4 rankings. M10Ustun will next be in action at the Gfinity FIFA Series March and based on the numbers, he’s a player you have to watch out for as he aims to go one step further than Singapore and lift his first FIFA 19 trophy for the organisation founded by Arsenal footballer Mesut Ozil.

THE EYE TEST – TUGA810

This Portuguese star caught our eye in the fourth FUT Champions Cup event in Atlanta. Playing an orthodox 4-4-2 formation with R9 and CR7 up front, Tuga810 implemented a slow style that other players struggled against, sitting back and playing on the counter-attack while utilising Mbappe and Neymar on the wings. He made it all the way to the Grand Final and gave the overall winner F2Tekkz one of his toughest tests of the season so far. The Offset eSports player backed that up in Singapore, making it to the PS4 console quarter-finals and has qualified for the eChampions League LAN event in Manchester. Based on the eye test, he has to be seen as a real possibility to shine in the North West of England and secure qualification for the eChampions League Grand Finals in Madrid.

RECENT SIGNING – Kyle Leese

A change in scenery can work wonders for a player, let alone a football club known all over the world. On Monday 4th March, the career of free agent Kyle Leese changed dramatically as he won the chance to represent Manchester United at the upcoming ePremier League later on in March. Signing for one of the biggest clubs in the world has certainly provided Lease with the motivation he needs to take his game to the next level. Last weekend, he won the chance to represent England at the eNations Cup in April, when he along with seven other players made it through an online qualification process to book his spot in the live qualification tournament in London. With his confidence sky high, it could be an incredible month for Leese with his spot in the ePremier League assured. It’ll be intriguing to see if he takes his good form into the tournament and also win the chance to become the first ever ‘eLion’ in April.

ONLINE FORM – NYC_Chris

The New York City FC man has a big month ahead of him as he is set to compete in both the Gfinity FIFA Series March and the eMLS Cup, but NYC_Chris seems to be hitting form at the right time online, putting in a series of good performances from the comfort of his own home. He most notably qualified for this month’s LQE event and more recently qualified for the eChampions League live event after going undefeated in the online qualification stages. Of course, online play is a totally different kettle of fish to offline play, but if Chris can find a way to bring his online form to a LAN environment, then perhaps a FIFA 19 trophy could be in his near future.
