Last season’s top goalscorer Jamie Vardy (£10.0m) will enter the thoughts and minds of so many FPL managers to start the new campaign and understandably so. He racked up an impressive 210 points last term thanks to his 23 goals and seven assists. He is an unquestioned starter in Brendan Rodgers’ side and has a reasonable looking start to the season in terms of opponents. Leicester kick off at West Brom and Vardy will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet.
One other candidate in that price range is Chelsea new boy Timo Werner (£9.5m) and there are plenty of managers that are being swayed by the new recruit. The German was prolific in his time at Leipzig and he has shown in recent matches for the national team that he is looking sharp right now. He will look to get off the mark early for his new team and this new-look Chelsea attack will provide plenty of chances for him. His opening game is at Brighton and that will not be easy so Vardy’s fixture against West Brom has to see the Leicester man get the nod here.
Verdict: Jamie Vardy
