Although their statistics are very similar, it’s Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) that edges Ben Foster (£5.0m) in almost all areas. The West Ham keeper has conceded fewer goals, collected more bonus points and has a better points per appearance than Foster. Also three of Fabianski’s clean sheets came in the final ten games of the season, indicating Pellegrini is slowly sorting his back-line out.
Both keepers also love a save, with Fabianski recording the most in the Premier League last season (148) and Foster the third most (128). Although Foster has the better opening three fixtures, it’s Fabianski that garners our long-term trust.
Verdict: Lukasz Fabianski
