What was the outcome in the last meeting? Sydney Sixers Women beat Perth Scorchers Women by 32 runs

  • Perth Scorchers made it four wins from their last five matches in the Women’s Big Bash League as a superb batting display helped them to a nine-wicket victory against Melbourne Stars.
  • The Stars were able to build a decent score as they sought a rare victory but three wickets form Samantha Betts slowed their progress somewhat and they ended on 149/6 from their 20 overs.
  • The Scorchers wasted no time in setting about chasing down their target and their opening pairing of Amy Jones and Meg Lanning nearly achieved the feat on their own but the latter fell on 70, with that partnership managing 147, but Jones remained on 68* to finish the job.

  • Sydney Sixers failed to bounce back from their last-ball defeat to Melbourne Renegades and have now lost two games in a row after losing to Hobart Hurricanes in worrying fashion last time out.
  • In their second game without injured skipper Ellyse Perry, the Sixers struggled with the bat and only managed to make 134/7 with new recruit Hollie Armitage falling for just two runs in her first game as cover for Perry.
  • Marizanne Kapp went a long way to atoning for failing to keep the Renegades at bay in the final over of their contest by notching 55* and taking three wickets with the ball but her efforts were not enough as the Hurricanes comfortably chased down the total to condemn the Sixers to a five-wicket loss with 10 balls remaining.

Sydney Sixers have now lost both games without influential captain Ellyse Perry and they could find themselves missing out on the knockout stages for the first time if they do not turn their form around. They face a tough trip to Perth to face the in-form Scorchers and the home side will fancy their chances in this one. The Scorchers have lost their last three against the Sixers but should be able to put that record straight here with the Sixers set to struggle once again without the presence of Perry.
