THE TEAM NEWS

MELBOURNE RENEGADES WOMEN

  • Melbourne Renegades will have to dust themselves off and look to bounce back immediately after feeling aggrieved to have lost a rain-affected game against Perth Scorchers by the DL method.
  • The Renegades were on their way to a huge total but could only manage 15 overs of play because of the weather and despite reaching 134/1 with Danni Wyatt producing a brilliant display of batting with an unbeaten 74 from just 51 balls.
  • With the weather worsening, the Scorchers were eventually only able to bat for seven overs and despite a slow start, they reached their target of 73 with Molly Strano conceding 17 off the final over, including a six off the final ball which saw the Renegades fall to an eight-wicket loss.

SYDNEY SIXERS WOMEN

  • Sydney Sixers got back to winning ways as they proved far too good for Melbourne Stars in their last game and made it two victories from their three games so far but know they will face a tough test against Melbourne Renegades.
  • Marizanne Kapp stole the headlines as she took a hat-trick in her final over of the innings and that flurry prevented the Stars from scoring many late runs to boost their total with the Sixers requiring 108 to win.
  • Their chase got off to a relatively decent start with Alyssa Healy scoring a quick-fire 27 from 18 balls before Ashleigh Gardner came in and notched 32 alongside captain Ellyse Perry who notched an unbeaten 39 to lead her side to the comfortable win.

THE PREDICTION

Melbourne Renegades will feel their loss to Perth Scorchers was a consequence of the poor weather but they did waste a brilliant position regardless of the reduction in overs. They now have a short turnaround as they face Sydney Sixers in what will be a tough game and they will need to pick themselves up to respond. The Sixers were dominant in their last game and will be confident of picking up where they left off with a third win in four games on the cards.
