THE TEAM NEWS

TRENT ROCKETS WOMEN

  • Trent Rockets suffered a disappointing home defeat in their first match of the Hundred, losing by 23 runs to Southern Brave and in a short competition, need to bounce back quickly here to avoid being cut adrift from the top three positions in the table.
  • Captain Nat Sciver was a shining light for the Rockets with both bat and ball, taking two wickets and scoring 44 runs from just 29 balls, although her efforts were ultimately in vain.
  • Spin-bowler Sarah Glenn has a reputation for giving the ball a serious whack when batting and after having no time to make an impact vs Southern Brave, may be pushed up the order for this match and utilised as a pinch hitter.

NORTHERN SUPERCHARGERS WOMEN

  • Northern Superchargers had overseas star Jemimah Rodrigues to thank for their six-wicket victory over Welsh Fire, which got their Hundred campaign off to a winning start.
  • The Indian international struck an incredible 92 not out from just 42 balls opening the batting, including 17 fours as she helped her side chase down a target of 131 with 15 balls to spare.
  • The Superchargers bowling attack looked in good shape against Welsh Fire and the likes of Linsey Smith, Katie Levick and Alice Davidson-Richards will all be hoping to impress once again here.

THE PREDICTION

A truly outstanding knock from Rodrigues, the best of the tournament so far has helped put Northern Superchargers in a fantastic position heading into this match. However, they face a Trent Rockets outfit certain to dish out a positive response following the disappointment of Saturday. The worry for the visitors is that they cannot rely on an individual knock such as what Rodrigues provided in every match and as a batting unit will need to offer their star opener more support. Home advantage should play a key part here as Trent Rockets look to utilise the pitch to their advantage, perhaps injecting more turn into the surface and if their top order can deliver the runs required without being solely reliant on Sciver, then they should pick up their first points of the competition.
