THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTHERN BRAVE MEN

  • Southern Brave chased down a target of 129 runs with five wickets and five balls remaining to beat Northern Superchargers last time out, with a fantastic 71 not out from opener and wicketkeeper batter Quinton de Kock the lynchpin of Southern Brave’s innings.
  • That win extended the Brave’s unbeaten run to four games, having picked up seven points from the last possible eight available to them and they now look a strong prospect to finish inside the top three.
  • Spin-bowling all-rounder Liam Dawson will not feature again in the tournament after breaking a finger vs Manchester Originals and Warwickshire’s Danny Briggs was brought in to replace him against the Superchargers, but whether he has done enough to retain his place in this side remains to be seen with Somerset’s Max Waller also waiting in the wings

WELSH FIRE MEN

  • Welsh Fire fell to a fourth consecutive loss in the Men’s Hundred, their latest defeat an extremely heavy one at the hands of Birmingham Phoenix.
  • After being smashed around Edgbaston by Will Smeed and Moeen Ali among others which led to them conceding 184 from 100 balls, the Fire were bowled out for a pitiful 91 to loss by 93 runs.
  • Options are limited for the Fire in terms of potential changes, with bowlers Jake Ball and Liam Plunkett injured along with wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow being away with England, but all-rounder Ryan Higgins could be brought into the side.

THE PREDICTION

Two sides in totally contrasting form collide here as Southern Brave host Welsh Fire. The Brave have really clicked as a unit in recent games and know that a win here would put them in with an excellent chance of finishing within the top three with one match to go. With an explosive top order batting unit, combined with genuine pace and excellent experience within their bowling ranks, Southern Brave at home are expected to comfortably triumph over an injury plagued Welsh Fire team devoid of confidence and far inferior in terms of all-round ability.
