THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTHERN BRAVE MEN

  • Southern Brave have accrued nine points from the last ten available to them and despite having suffered injuries along the way to the likes of batter Devon Conway and spin-bowling all-rounder Liam Dawson, the Brave continue to march on.
  • Last Wednesday saw them triumph comfortably vs Welsh Fire, chasing down a target of 145 with eight wickets in hand and 13 balls to spare with two batters hitting half-centuries.
  • An unchanged side is expected for this match, which takes place on the same ground as their battle with the Fire and a repeat performance will be desired by head coach Mahela Jayawardene.

OVAL INVINCIBLES MEN

  • Oval Invincibles’ nail-biting two-wicket victory over London Spirit last time out has set up this do-or-die showdown with Surrey batter Laurie Evans the hero of the hour.
  • Needing 147 to win, Evans played a match-winning innings of 67 not out from 37 balls to guide his team home, following an excellent bowling performance from spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, the South African international taking three wickets from his 20 balls.
  • Sam Billings’ side were dealt a huge blow last week as fast bowler Saqib Mahmood was called up to the England test squad as cover, however he has since been released back to the Invincibles and should feature here.

THE PREDICTION

Winner takes all in this crunch encounter that will see the victors guaranteed a top three finish in the men’s Hundred league, whilst the losers will be eliminated from the competition. Both are in excellent form and a cracking contest is on the cards. Each boasts serious firepower at the top of the order combined with strong death bowling. However, home advantage being in Southern Brave’s favour will be crucial with them having won each of their three games so far at the Ageas Bowl and James Vince’s men may just edge the Invincibles out here.
