THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTHERN BRAVE MEN

  • Southern Brave’s most recent game against Manchester Originals was curtailed by the weather, meaning that they have now picked up five points from the last six available to them after losing their opening two matches.
  • The Brave were dealt a blow during what play was possible, as all-rounder Liam Dawson suffered a finger injury fielding off his own bowling and he is very likely to miss this next game.
  • Both Danny Briggs and Max Waller present more than adequate spin-bowling replacements for Dawson, although neither are as accomplished with the bat whilst Ireland T20i opener Paul Stirling will be hoping to get his chance to wield the willow after rain prevented him from getting a chance to bat in Manchester.

NORTHERN SUPERCHARGERS MEN

  • Northern Superchargers secured their second win of the competition in some style last time out, thrashing London Spirit by 63 runs at Lord’s.
  • Captain David Willey was the star after smashing 81 not out from 46 balls to help parachute the Superchargers to 155/3, which they defended with ease as their spin-bowlers took control alongside Durham’s Ben Raine, who picked up three wickets whilst Willey managed two scalps himself.
  • Willey’s side could well remain unchanged for this next game, especially when considering just how dominant they were against an admittedly very poor London Spirit.

THE PREDICTION

The Northern Superchargers head to Southampton on a real high and with momentum on their side after their demolition job of the London Spirit. However, Southern Brave represent far tougher opposition, with an in-form pace bowling attack who could make light work of a visiting top order that has struggled badly for form with the exception of both Brook and Willey. Both bowling attacks look strong on paper and therefore this one looks like coming down to who can put in the better batting performance. With that in mind, the firepower of the Southern Brave line-up particularly the form of their lower order hitters such as Ross Whiteley and Chris Jordan may just see them over the line here.
