THE TEAM NEWS

MANCHESTER ORIGINALS WOMEN

  • At the halfway stage of the competition, Manchester Originals are the only team in the women’s Hundred not to have registered a victory as of yet, losing three matches with one washout producing their only point so far.
  • Their latest defeat came at the hands of Welsh Fire, who made light work of Manchester’s 120/6 in Cardiff, chasing it down in 88 balls with nine wickets spare
  • It would be no surprise if the Originals’ switched up their batting line-up in an attempt to find a winning formula here, with both Danielle Collins and all-rounder Natalie Brown both hoping to be brought into the side.

SOUTHERN BRAVE WOMEN

  • Southern Brave are currently sitting pretty with four wins from four games, the only team in either the women’s or men’s Hundred to hold such a record, their most recent victory coming in emphatic fashion against London Spirit this past Sunday.
  • The bowling attack of the Brave has been a particular stand out for them and bowling out an opponent within 100 balls as they did the Spirit last time out should be considered an excellent achievement.
  • Spin-bowler Charlotte Taylor did not play on Sunday, however may be recalled against the Originals, who are likely to request a turning pitch at Emirates Old Trafford to suit their own spinners.

THE PREDICTION

This looks to the naked eye like one of the more straightforward matches to predict as the visitors with a 100% record, goes up against a winless opposition. However, with home advantage in their favour Manchester Originals are likely to have the benefit of playing on a pitch that suits that strong spin-bowling unit and it will prove a test for the visiting batters. Southern Brave though, have the benefit of a number of their top batters being in good form such as Danni Wyatt and Stafanie Taylor. Combine that with their well varied bowling unit alongside their excellent form as a team and it’s hard not to see them emerging victorious in this one.
