  • Sussex Sharks will enter the 2020 Vitality Blast as one of the favourites to win the competition, despite a grand final defeat in 2018 and a quarter final loss in 2019.
  • Limited overs specialist Ravi Bopara is expected to make his long-awaited Sussex debut, after the all-rounder left Essex in the off season to join Jason Gillespie’s side at Hove.
  • Whilst bowlers Tymal Mills, Danny Briggs and Will Beer are all likely to come into the side, the Sharks will be without Jofra Archer through England commitments and all-rounder David Wiese as the South African quarantines following his arrival into the UK.

  • Surrey will be glad to turn their attentions to the Vitality Blast following a red ball campaign that has seen them lose all their competitive games so far in this truncated season.
  • Laurie Evans has joined the club for the competition from Sussex ahead of a permanent move at the end of the season, but will not feature in this match as part of the agreement.
  • Surrey will also be without regular captain Jade Dernbach after injuring a groin in training, with spinner Gareth Batty set to skipper the side in his absence, whilst Jason Roy, Reece Topley, Tom Curran and Sam Curran are all on England duty.

The forecast suggests that this could be yet another Vitality Blast match lost to the weather over the last couple of days. Should the two sides get out onto the field, then Sussex Sharks will be expected to triumph here at home against a Surrey side ravaged by both injuries and England call-ups.
