All-time meetings: Hampshire W11, Surrey W11, No Result 1
Last meeting: Surrey beat Hampshire by 7 wickets

  • Hampshire lost for a third successive game as they fell to a heavy defeat against Gloucestershire as their opponents chased down the 140 they had been set to win with 13 balls remaining.
  • Opener Aneurin Donald make a quick-fire 44 from 23 balls to get his side off to a strong start but none of his teammates could breach 30 runs and the bowling unit struggled for wickets as they felt to a seven-wicket loss.
  • This poor run of form will be a concern for Hampshire who are currently out of contention for a quarter-final spot as things stand and they will need to turn things around quickly but will hope to use the news of Liam Dawson’s new three-year deal to spur them on here.

  • Surrey made it back-to-back wins as they kept their hopes of making the semi-finals alive with a brilliant win over South Group leaders Sussex Sharks with their key players coming to the fore.
  • Sam Curran and Ollie Pope both notched scores in the 40s before Tom Curran took three wickets with Imran Tahir also taking three as they impressively restricted Sussex to 135/8 to claim a 26-run victory.
  • Despite the win, it was not all good news for Surrey who lost Tom Curran to injury as he was bowling the final over of the game and he looks to be a huge doubt due to the short turnaround here.

Hampshire are stuck in a rut and now face a team that appear to have turned the corner in Surrey. They have now won their last two and defeated leaders Sussex with a brilliant all-round performance last night. Hampshire have lost their last three and this could be four on the spin here if they are not careful. Surrey’s England contingent will again be key and even though they look like they will be without Tom Curran, they should have enough to get the job done in his absence.
